A few things
you might be wondering.

Clear expectations make for a better job.
Here’s what to know before we begin.

Are quotes free, and how quickly can I get one?

Yes. Written quotes are free and without obligation, normally within 24 hours once we have the details needed. We can arrange a site visit before quoting. There’s no fixed quote-validity period, so please reconfirm the details when you’re ready to book.

Is there a minimum charge or deposit?

The minimum job charge is £250. No deposit is required; payment is by bank transfer when the work is finished. GR Plastering is not VAT registered.

Who supplies materials and arranges waste removal?

We can buy materials and add the agreed cost to your quote, or you can supply your own. The same applies to skips: we can arrange one through our provider at an agreed extra cost, or you can arrange your own. Cleaning the work area is included at no extra cost on every job.

How long does plastering take?

A normal room reskim usually takes around one day, depending on its size, the surfaces and any preparation needed. We’ll discuss timing for your particular job before booking.

How should I prepare the room?

Empty the room where possible so we can reach the walls and ceiling. We protect floors and remaining furniture, carry out the agreed preparation and removal work, and clean up at the end.

Can you skim old plaster or cover Artex?

Yes, subject to assessing the existing surface. Cracks, blown plaster and damaged areas may need repairs first. Let us know about any concerns and send photos with your enquiry so we can discuss the right preparation.

When can I paint, and do you decorate?

Fresh plaster often takes around seven days to dry, but temperature, ventilation and plaster thickness can change that. Wait until it is fully dry before painting and follow the aftercare advice for your room. We don’t provide painting or decorating.

What does the workmanship guarantee cover?

Our written 1-year workmanship guarantee covers defects caused by poor workmanship, which we’ll fix at no extra cost. We also commit to paying to put right any damage we cause while carrying out our work. Please contact us if you have a concern.

Do you work weekends?

Our normal working days are Monday to Saturday, 8am–6pm. Evening and weekend contact is also possible by arrangement — get in touch to discuss your timing.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Tell us as soon as your plans change. Consumer bookings have a 14-day cooling-off period; cancelling before any requested work starts is free. Outside that period, any charge is limited to reasonable, evidenced loss. With at least 48 hours’ notice, there is no charge for unworked reserved time. With less notice, actual unavoidable lost time is capped at £150 in total. It is not an automatic fee. Read the booking and cancellation policy for early starts, materials and your rights.
